Another emotional low...

January 27, 2010

Dr. Keck seems to be bringing us bad news. It seems that the absence of the radius is often a characteristic of a rare genetic condition. Without further information, we are hesitant to commit.

After two referrals from Beijing that we turned down, we are wondering "are we being picky?" Is this for us? Why are things not working out for us? What should we do?

Wang Chao Qiao

January 26, 2010

It seems like such a short time since we received the last referral that left us in an emotional low. We open this file, and it is not a match to any conditions that we put on our list. Wondering though, is this an open door for us that we need to pursue.... we send the files to Dr. Keck for review. The young girl was missing her radial bone.

Jerry and I felt, if this is the only issue, we can work with this. We can help her learn to live without the radius.

Hate to say, I was right.

January 22, 2010

We spoke with Dr. Keck, and found that he has Ambiguous Genitalia. Jerry and I are crushed after learning the wide scope of possibilities with this concern. We feel we cannot commit without further medical tests, and knowledge.

Jiang Zhi Han

January 21, 2010

Since we decided to allow the Beijing staff to make a match based on our criteria, we received files for Jiang Zhi Han today. He was diagnosed with Hypospadias, which is on our list of accepted conditions. He is only 9 months old, which is very rare. We are very excited. I open the pictures, and my heart sinks. To even an untrained eye, this condition looks like much more than hypospadias.

We will send the file to Dr. Keck for review.

Haitian Orphans

January 20, 2010

Today, after receiving an email from Farrah concerning Haitian orphans coming to Indianapolis, we contacted the organization. Once I finally got the email to go through, we found out that in five hours of announcing, they already had the 300 orphans placed.

Another dead end. Are we supposed to be doing this? Only God knows the answer.

CSS Package

January 11, 2010

Jerry and I composed our Birthmother letter, put together a Shutterfly scrapbook, and sent pictures of us at Dixie Stampede. This will be used for birthmother consideration as they look make the difficult decision of putting their child up for adoption.

We officially will be logged in the CSS book tomorrow.
